How many of you have ever watched one of those “reality” shows where people buy storage units in the hopes of turning a nice profit.  Well, based on that concept and using the idea from Jim Younkin to use the Great Deals section of The Undermine Journal, Grouper and TradeSkillMaster, I did my own version of WoW Auction Hunter.  I wanted to see what kind of deals I could find and if I could flip them for a profit. Recently went on a little binge over on my Alliance character that I was planning on bringing over. She's a warlock from my old realm who I wanted over on my new Horde realm, and I brought her over today. Before transferring, however, I went on a spending spree over in Alliance territory. Pet Sales by Kassandra

Lately I have been dabbling with pet sales.  One of the things I like best about selling pets is the deposit on auctioning a caged pet is low, a mere one silver to run a twenty-four hour auction.  It would take me a hundred listings before I even lost a single gold piece.  Pet sales are slow, at least on my server, but I am going to wager most pets, if priced right, should sell within a week or two.  Read on for more.

Mysterious Fortune Card Tactics by DC

Today's Hatchery post was submitted by DC. If you'd like your own original gold-making writing to appear on The Hatchery simply email the post, title, images and your name/pseudonym to powerwordgold@yahoo.com with the word "Hatchery" as part of the subject line and we'll get it posted.

Some of this stuff might be rudimentary to you at this point in the game, but I have a few routines I follow that yield excellent results.

One market I have never really left is the Mysterious Fortune Cards, and though in Cata, the Fortune Cookie version made me tens of thousands, I have found that the basic card itself will still roll just fine in MoP. Head past the jump for more.

The Gold Making Minefield by Gnomicidal

Today's Hatchery post was submitted by Gnomicidal. If you'd like your own original gold-making writing to appear on The Hatchery simply email the post, title, images and your name/pseudonym to powerwordgold@gmail.com with the word "Hatchery" as part of the subject line and we'll get it posted.

Gold making is like a minefield. On one side is the starting edge, on the other....whatever your gold making goal is...gold cap, $2mill gold, buying all the gold sink items, etc. etc. whatever. There are people scattered in all parts of the minefield and some are still at the starting edge. Standing at the start of the minefield are the beginners. Read on past the jump.

Hitting the Million - My Journey to Gold-Cap by Jules Burt

Today's Hatchery post was submitted by Jules Burt (@julesburt, julesburt.co.uk). If you'd like your own original gold-making writing to appear on The Hatchery simply email the post, title, images and your name/pseudonym to powerwordgold@gmail.com with the word "Hatchery" as part of the subject line and we'll get it posted.

I finally decided to start gold making towards the end of the Cataclysm expansion. For the two years prior to this I had been like most players, not really actively making gold, but just having enough to get by.

I did do some research before I plumped for my original two professions, skinning and herbalism. My thinking was that I could use these gathering professions and sell what I got on the AH. This worked and was pretty much my only source of gold outside of quest and instance rewards. If I was short of gold, I would just go out and gather some more. It worked, but boy, what an inefficient way to earn some coin. Head past the jump for more.

Great Deals for Big Bucks By Erogroth

There are many ways to make gold in World of Warcraft. One of the easiest is to flip items. Flipping is the process of buying items at a cheap price off the AH and then selling them (or flipping them) for a higher price. There are many items you can flip but one of my favorites is that of rare crafting patterns and recipes.  Learn more after the break!

Making Gold Without Every Profession and Limited Startup Gold by Erogroth

Today's Hatchery post was submitted by Erogroth. If you'd like your own original gold-making writing to appear on The Hatchery simply email the post, title, images and your name/pseudonym to powerwordgold@gmail.com with the word "Hatchery" as part of the subject line and we'll get it posted.

Recently I decided to enter the gold making game of World of Warcraft. I had no idea what I was going to do, how to do it or even where to start. Worse I only have one max level character and my next highest alt was sitting at 80 thx to a Scroll of Resurrection a friend gave me after I took some time off from the game during Cataclysm. I had some gold just from doing Dailies and quests and everyday things in WoW, which was about 20k. So where to begin? Head past the jump to find out.

So this is it. I’m Kryahio, an avid World of Warcraft player for about 5 years now, who’s very recently got into the gold making field, and a first time blogger. I wasn’t in it for much; I just wanted to experiment with different add-ons, different professions, and a total different way of playing WoW... and seeing IF it could even make 50k for a vial. Don't $ell Yourself $hort by Profitz

It's interesting how many on the auction house will continuously lower their prices and sell-themselves-cheap, pretty much giving away their wares to make minimal profits.  For some this might seem ok, but those experienced know that it's all about profits and making as much of a profit-margin (return on investment - ROI, blah blah blah) as possible. So here I am. My name is Profitz (aka: Wireddreamer), and I've been playing World of Warcraft for about 6-7 years. And yet finally, I'm entering into the gold making adventure in World of Warcraft on a new realm and also for the first time. Albeit, I dabbled in gold making before and made about 200K but nothing to the extent that I set my reaches out for now, gold cap at a pretty 1 million on a new realm. Strange Dust Selling by Thraul

Today's Hatchery post was submitted by Thraul who writes the Arllan's AH Game blog where this piece originally appeared. If you'd like your own gold-making post to appear on the Hatchery email the post, title, images and your name/pseudonym to powerwordgold@gmail.com with the word "Hatchery" as part of the subject line.

Hallow's End has begun and now its time to reset the market on an unusual piece of material [Strange Dust].

Strange Dust is required for a quest turn in [Taking Precautions] which is part of a small quest chain that rewards a [Creepy Crate].

So for those people that are stocking up on Battle Pets this is a nice item to sell.

I bought out my AH last night of Strange Dust. They were selling for about 50s a piece. Picked up about 1000 pieces. I have managed to flip them for between 8g - 10g a piece.

I can flip these for anything above 50s and make a profit. I was the only one doing this for a few hours. Did not take long for competition to creep in but prices are still sitting at about 4g - 5g a piece.

A new feature in MoP is the Luck of the Lotus Buff which is obtained when you loot Golden Lotus as an herbalist.  This buff "Allows you to sometimes find extra treasure from monsters in Pandaria.  Lasts 15 min.  Effect persists through death."  I was not quite sure what this meant when I first looted the herb, but I did notice that I was getting random 'Plundered Treasure' while I had the buff. Seeing as we are all now getting free access to the WoW Remote Auction House, I wanted to share with you all a tip that will help you snag those cheap Cata greens using the mobile version of the app. For those that are new to the app, I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised with the ease of use of the Browse Auctions feature. However, it does have its limitations, so read on after the jump to avoid missing out on that tasty Jasperlode Helm of the Bear that someone just posted for 5 gold :o Read on past the jump.

With the release date announced for the Mists of Pandaria expansion it is a good time to start thinking about what to stockpile in preparation for Mists.  In the spirit of disclosure I haven't done an in depth study of everything that is changing in Mists, but I have some suggestions that have proven to be beneficial during the launch of Cataclysm. Recently, I’ve hit 1 million gold. As an avid player since patch 1.10 (yes vanilla) I take pride in being one of the few players who know what its like to beg for 50g for a respect just so I could raid for that evening’s Molten Core run. Gold in vanilla was extremely rare, almost as rare as the gear that the 1% guilds wore out of Naxxaramas at the time. I used to think that I would never see that content because there was something that was far more important than shiny purples. It happened to be gold. Read on past the jump.

Crafting And Selling Netherweave Bags by fenjayminor

Crafting and selling Netherweave bags is a good background or startup gold-making activity. These bags are nothing new - they were introduced almost three expansions ago. But they have not stopped flying off the shelves since the days that Illidan ran Outland and we all lived in Shattrath City, showing off our nether drakes. Head past the jump for the reasons why.

The Definitive Transmog Shopping List Compilation

We've had some great gold-makers submit posts to The Hatchery. Some of the most popular posts so far have been the transmogrification lists submitted by Keelhaul, Farli and EpicPennyPouch.

I've given the link to these lists out more times than I can count. For gold-makers interested in getting started selling transmog items these lists are invaluable. I've decided to blend all four posts into one easy-to-use post. Head past the jump for the lists along with citations back to the original posts.

Skinning Savage Leather in the Firelands! by Dorshii

I have always used mining and herbing as my main source of income but one of my close friends had persuaded me to get skinning on one of my alts. One of his winning points for me was when he showed me when how much he had made during a 1 hour session of farming savage leather. I was pretty amazed when he showed me the screenshot of his backpack after. It was pretty awesome that I just had to show you guys this awesome skinning spot. Find our more after the jump.
