Using The Mobile Armory to Snag Cataclysm 77-80 Items by Edladd

Seeing as we are all now getting free access to the WoW Remote Auction House, I wanted to share with you all a tip that will help you snag those cheap Cata greens using the mobile version of the app. For those that are new to the app, I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised with the ease of use of the Browse Auctions feature. However, it does have its limitations, so read on after the jump to avoid missing out on that tasty Jasperlode Helm of the Bear that someone just posted for 5 gold :o Read on past the jump.
Once you have installed your app and loaded it up, head in to the Auction House and enter Browse. Once you hit search, a GUI pops up to allow you to specify what you are looking for. Most of it is very intuitive – enter ‘77’ and ‘80’ as your level range; ‘Uncommon’ as the Minimum Rarity; and ‘Armor’ as the category. If you hit Search at this point, there is a very good chance that you will have so many results that you will pass the Remote AH’s limit of displayed auctions (200 max). Also, so many of these will be Jasper Rings and Alacite Pendents that there will probably only be a few items that you are interested in looking at.
So, how do we narrow the search in the most efficient way? We could search for the items one level at a time, looking at 77s first, then 78s and so on. However, in my experience, this still gives problems with too many unwanted items. So the answer I have settled on is searching by armor type.
This will give a manageable list of results (on my server usually no more than 3 pages), which you can sort by Item Level. This means all the Cata items will appear first, and there is usually a nice clear indication of the start of Wrath items when you see an epic after a load of greens. A quick scan of the items will reveal the ones in your price range, and you can go into the Auction and click on the icon in the top left corner to see what stats are on it before committing to buying it.
It only takes a few minutes to search for Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate, Shields and Weapons. A Miscellaneous search will give you rings, trinkets and neck pieces – but it will take longer to scan through all of those JC items.
I hope you found this tip useful, and I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences making gold with the Remote AH.
